Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated from Tufts University earning a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology. She continued her education at Tufts University obtaining a Master’s Degree in Child Development. Dr. Nguyen earned her MD from John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai'i. She completed her residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai’i.

Dr. Nguyen is board certified in both General Psychiatry (Adult) as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She provides a full range of psychiatric services to a wide age-range of individuals which include mood disorders, anxiety concerns, ADHD/ADD, PDD, autistic spectrum disorders, attachment disorders, women’s mental health such as post-partum depression, PTSD, OCD and opioid dependence (Buprenorphine treatment),  among other mental/behavioral health concerns.

She utilizes such treatment modalities as individual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, play therapy and psychopharmacological treatment when indicated. Risks, benefits, and side effects of any medication treatment are discussed, prior to initiation, and throughout the treatment course, and are followed under close doctor supervision.  Dr. Nguyen provides evaluation, consultation, and treatment services for patients and their families. During evaluation, other medical problems commonly co-existing with mental health concerns are also assessed. She often works closely with other physicians involved for coordination of care. Dr. Nguyen is proud to be able to provide medical services for the communities with which she was raised.
